What inspired your move from Bulgaria to the United States?
I came to the United States from Bulgaria with my family, motivated by the desire to create new opportunities and build a better future for ourselves. The move was both exciting and challenging, as we adjusted to a new culture and environment while pursuing our personal and professional growth.
This journey taught me adaptability, resilience, and the importance of embracing my change. It also shaped my career by giving me a fresh and new perspective and building a strong work ethic for myself.
Tell us a little about your role at CCTY and what a typical day looks like for you.
At CCTY, I’m responsible for Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), processing and entering purchase orders in our ERP system, receiving goods, reviewing open accounts for collections, and assisting the company controller. No two days are the same in my role, it involves coordinating with customers, confirming orders, calculating payments, and managing billing. As an Accounting Assistant, I truly enjoy supporting both the accounting and customer service sides of the business. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to grow.
Working in a dynamic environment where every day brings new challenges, I’ve learned how to stay organized, adapt quickly, and ensure deadlines are met without sacrificing accuracy. This skill has helped me improve both my productivity and the quality of my work, especially when balancing responsibilities like processing purchase orders, managing accounts, and coordinating with customers.
What do you enjoy most about interacting with customers and helping them resolve billing or payment questions?
What I enjoy most about interacting with customers and helping them with billing or payment questions is the opportunity to build trust and provide clear solutions. It feels great to make a sometimes confusing process easier for them and knowing that I’ve helped solve an issue or answer a question gives me a real sense of satisfaction.
What advice would you give to someone just starting a career in accounting or finance?
My advice for someone just starting a career in accounting or finance, whether in Bulgaria or anywhere else, is to stay curious and never stop learning. The field is always evolving, so keeping up with new regulations, technologies, and best practices is key. Growing up in Bulgaria and adapting to a new language has taught me the value of hard work and effective communication are essential qualities in this profession. Finally, be patient and persistent; building expertise takes time, but every challenge is a chance to grow.
Outside of work, how do you like to spend your time or unwind after a busy day?
Outside of work, I love hanging out with my family and friends. It’s the best way for me to relax and recharge after a busy day. I also really enjoy baking sourdough breads it’s fun to knead the dough and watch it rise. Plus, sharing fresh homemade bread with people I care about makes it even better.
