EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: LOGAN LYONS

CCTY

CCTY USA hosts interns during the summer months. This year, Logan Lyons joins the team from the University of Minnesota, where he is pursuing a degree in business. Throughout his internship, Logan is assisting with CCTY’s tariff rebate program while gaining hands-on experience in operations. His strong interest in accounting, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn make him a valuable addition to the CCTY team this summer.

Please describe your responsibilities as CCTY’s intern.

My role in supporting the tariff rebate program involves reviewing historical customer shipments to identify orders that may qualify for tariff-related rebates. As part of this process, I analyze shipment and tariff data and help maintain accurate records throughout the review process.

I also collaborate with members of our sales and operations teams to ensure information is organized and available to support the rebate process and customer communications.

What drew you to this position?

I was extremely interested in working on tariff refunds at CCTY because of my previous background in accounting and interest with numbers. This past year, I was able to take an accounting class at the University of Minnesota where I learned all about tariffs and handling transactions. Additionally, Evan Poulakidas, Director of North America for CCTY, was my former head coach for my high school hockey team and was gracious enough to offer me this opportunity.

How has your coursework at the University of Minnesota helped prepare you for this internship?

My coursework at the University of Minnesota prepared me well for my internship. This past semester, I was able to take an Excel course which taught me how to use it and the shortcuts behind it. My internship consists of using Excel every day, and without taking that class, I would not be able to complete the tasks I am being given. Also, like I said in the previous question, I was able to take an accounting class which helped me grow a passion for accounting work and provide knowledge on tariffs.

What has it been like working with the CCTY team?

It has been an amazing experience being able to work with the CCTY team. I work closely with Traci Fritz, Director of Operations, on the tariff rebate program. She has done a fantastic job on guiding me through the entire process. I look forward to working with the rest of the team throughout my internship!

Looking ahead, what are your career goals, and how has this internship influenced your plans?

My career goals are to be able to start my own company, as I have a very entrepreneurial mindset. I also want to be able to use my accounting and tariff skills to be able to reach international companies and potentially do business with or work for them in the future. I believe that by participating in this internship, I will be able to work in the international market due to my knowledge gained throughout this summer at CCTY.
