Meet Sanjay Tomar, CCTY India’s Sales Manager and one of the key architects behind establishing and expanding the CCTY brand in the Indian market. In his role, Sanjay works closely with customers to understand their needs and guide them from standard parts to application-specific solutions tailored for India’s demanding OEM landscape.
With a strong background in engineering and experience with global automotive and motion-component leaders, he blends technical insight with relationship-driven sales to build long-term trust and credibility. Sanjay’s work has been instrumental in positioning CCTY as a trusted partner for precision motion solutions across automotive, off-highway, robotics and industrial segments in India.
Can you share a bit about your background and what led you to join CCTY?
I come from an engineering and automotive components background, having completed my Bachelor of Engineering from the Maharashtra Institute of Technology in Pune and then spending the early part of my career with MNCs such as Chevron and Schaeffler. Those experiences gave me exposure to both the technical side of motion components and the commercial dynamics of working with OEMs, Tier suppliers and the aftermarket. I was ultimately drawn to CCTY not only because of its strong product and R&D foundation, but also because of its work culture and business ethics.
CCTY is fundamentally an engineering-driven company that connects with customers through innovation and by developing new, application-specific solutions rather than pushing standard catalogue parts. We are able to engage deeply with customer programs and earn their confidence with ease. For me, this combination of engineering depth, customer alignment and culture made CCTY the right platform to shape strategy, build long-term OEM relationships and contribute to the company’s growth in a rapidly evolving Indian Market.
What does a typical day look like for you and what do you enjoy the most about your role?
A typical day for me involves meeting customers and identifying new opportunities for CCTY India. The main focus areas being marketing and networking, because establishing a brand in a new market is about visibility, credibility, and long-term trust. Building personal relationships is not a one-day job; it takes years of work, dedication, and follow-through.
What I enjoy the most is seeing these relationships grow and eventually benefit the company. It’s both challenging and rewarding but watching your investment in people translate into real results for the business is the part that truly motivates me.
How do you work with OEM customers in India to move from a standard part conversation to a custom, application-specific solution?
We begin by understanding the customer’s baseline requirements, cost expectations, and pain points. From there, we work closely with OEM engineering, sourcing, and testing teams to map load cases, duty cycles, environmental conditions, and packaging constraints, an essential step in India where durability and cost pressures are high. Our experienced application engineering team works with customers to analyze technical input such as lifecycle, materials, lubrication, and assembly, ensuring every detail is captured and addressed for 100% customer satisfaction. Samples for proto testing are top priority, enabling faster validation and significantly reducing development timelines. Prototypes are jointly tested, validated, and refined until performance, durability, and cost targets are met.
In India, this collaborative engineering model has enabled us to evolve from supplying standard components to becoming a trusted solutions partner for OEMs across automotive, off-highway, robotics, and industrial applications, aligning strongly with CCTY’s innovation-driven culture.
What industries in India are showing the strongest demand for CCTY’s products right now, and why?
- 2W and Passenger Cars– India is the world’s largest producer of two-wheelers and passenger vehicles. CCTY has developed special low-friction PTFE guide and slide bushings specifically tailored shock absorbers, belt tensioners, seat recliners, wipers, torque convertors and dual mass flywheel aligning directly with these fast-moving automotive segments in India.
- Construction Equipment & Off-Highway- India’s construction, infrastructure and off-highway equipment markets generate consistent demand for heavy-duty motion components for excavators, loaders, compactors and agricultural off-highway vehicles. Our spherical plain bearings, bushings, linkages, ball joints and tie rods are designed to excel under extreme load cycles, shock exposure and harsh environmental conditions.
- Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV)- The HCV segment introduces additional dynamics where vehicle uptime and maintenance intervals significantly impact fleet operators’ profitability. India’s logistics sector relies on trucks and buses equipped with durable steering and suspension linkage systems. CCTY offers drag link, track rods assemblies, intermediate steering shafts, ball joints, torque rods and straddle rubber bushings tailored for high loads, long service life and reduced wear.
- Planetary Gearbox- The planetary gearbox market in India is gaining strong traction as manufacturers demand compact, high-torque and efficient power-transmission solutions across automation, industrial machinery and renewable energy systems. Their ability to deliver high torque density, compact design and reliable motion control makes them popular in automated systems, CNC machines and material-handling equipment. As robotics deployments accelerate, and automotive and renewable sectors expand, demand for durable motion-control components continues to rise.
For this segment, CCTY supports gearbox OEMs with key precision components, including ball bearings, angular contact ball bearings, cylindrical roller bearings (RNN & RN types), and bushings, which are used in high-load, high-speed and low-noise environments within planetary and servo gearbox assemblies. With India’s industrial modernization strengthening, the planetary gearbox segment is positioned for steady long-term growth.
- Industrial Robotics and Humanoid Robotics- According to the International Federation of Robotics, India installed a record number of industrial robots last year. With year-on-year increase India is positioning itself among the top global markets for robot installations. Industrial adoption is growing across automotive, electronics, and material handling, where precision, uptime and repetitive accuracy are essential. The humanoid robotics segment in India gaining momentum, with startups and research labs developing articulated humanoid platforms for industrial assistance, service tasks and customer engagement. These humanoid systems require highly precise and compact joint solutions capable of smooth multi-axis movement that can benefit from CCTY’s cross roller bearings, spherical plain bearings, flexible bearings, bushings, rod ends, and articulated linkage assemblies engineered for accurate motion, durability and low friction.
Looking ahead, what excites you most about CCTY’s growth opportunities in India over the next few years?
The strong alignment between India’s industrial development and CCTY’s engineering capabilities. India is in a high-growth phase across multiple mobility sectors including passenger cars, two-wheelers, heavy commercial vehicles, construction equipment and agricultural machinery, and each of these segments is steadily moving toward higher performance standards, longer service life expectations and lower maintenance requirements.
This shift favors advanced motion components such as PTFE-based low-friction bushings, spherical plain bearings, ball joints, linkages and steering assemblies, areas where CCTY offers strong R&D, application engineering and in-house validation. At the same time, heavy commercial and construction equipment operators are increasingly focused on uptime and total cost of ownership, creating demand for durable, long-life steering and suspension components.
India is also becoming a global manufacturing and sourcing base for automotive and off-highway OEMs, enabling companies like CCTY to supply both domestic and export market. India represents a rare environment where market needs and CCTY’s strengths are naturally synchronized, making the next few years extremely promising.
What’s one accomplishment you’re especially proud of since joining CCTY?
One accomplishment I am especially proud of since joining CCTY has been building presence and credibility in the Indian OEM market. When we launched CCTY India in 2017, it was not a very well-known brand, so we had a major challenge in front of us to establish trust and visibility. We spent immense time on market research, identifying relevant markets and applications that aligned with CCTY ideology and product portfolio. The initial few years were tough as we worked to create a base for ourselves in India, but once those early approvals and regular business were secured, we gained a strong foundation that helped us grow.
Our global presence also played an instrumental role, as customers could see that CCTY was not just a new supplier in India, but a globally active engineering company with strong R&D and validation capabilities. The transition from being relatively unknown to being recognized as a reliable engineering partner has been extremely rewarding and stands out as one of my proudest achievements at CCTY.
