The seal is basically the lifeline of the part itself, especially because if we’re talking about over the road trucks, these trucks are going for millions of miles. The seal is what’s meant to keep things like keep things from happening like water ingress, like we mentioned previously. Quite literally, it’s it would it would accelerate the wear of the part if water gets in.
We mentioned that it would create an abrasive paste rather than actual lubrication. The seal works as a defense on two sides, the outside and on the inside. Inside making sure that even if water doesn’t get in, we’re trying to make sure that the grease doesn’t get out because if the grease gets out, then you have metal to metal. And again, that’s accelerated wear. On the outside, it’s like everything else we mentioned before where we have mud, we have salt, we have potentially small rocks that are h like what are on the road that are all trying to get in and destroy the part. And the seal is working as a defense both on the outside and on the inside of parts.
